He reminds us that cybersecurity risk can start with something as ordinary as a contact record. For example, a lookalike domain or compromised form lets a malicious identity into your CRM, where the business starts treating it as trusted data, influencing scoring and routing.

It also makes the next phishing attempt more convincing, because the identity already exists inside a trusted system.

Greg’s answer is to check provenance before anything gets in, including where the record came from and whether it met your acceptance rules first.
